Update 5 - Writing part one....?
Update 5:
Alrighty! Hello....
So here is the update.
Writing is hard for me, even when using the foundation of the HTML version! but I've expanded the introduction, and added a few more new ironing a few thoughts on page.
The intent:
I wanted this adventure to be somewhat modular, episodic? Very loose ways to add this to any kind of world (kind of) as long as you have :
- The Count Duckworth's Invite letter (Hook)
- A place where there is Forest/Woods (Location)
I took inspiration from the mysterious woods from Zelda and the misty fog trope as mode of transportation.
You can either travel to the woods, or wake up in the middle of woods.
This really up to how the gamemaster wants to set it up.....which I am currently thinking about.... because I think I'm going to write as if it was information for me. Due being quite new to the hobby, but also selfishly want this to be easy, because I'm a very lazy game master (limited experience) and slab text isn't how I enjoy prepping with.
which I guess I could refine with a minimal version which strips and condenses down the fluff. A speedier version with less explanation.
Anyway, as mentioned I've written the bits about invite letter and the 4 key pictograms which is the clues and mystery of the adventure - small vignettes to the adventure, which acts as visual cues. This can be interpreted as items or scenes, but is storytelling tool which will be shaped and triggered by party discussion and how the gamemaster can build upon it.
Goals:
Trying to keep the game modular as possible. This means end goal; the party doesn't need all 4 items to complete the adventure, they can even keep the items for themselves, but this triggers a consequence. Any of the paths taken will ideally impact the party in the next game... whether this be an Aid or curse.
The setting can be places anywhere. wait I already said this.
Next part is writing how the party can arrive at the undying swamp lands. expand what is in that area, which I have an idea for... but wanting to not blow this zine up with too much information, but we'll see.
so...
Rough outline:
- Expand Swamp of the Undying Crows. (NPC and creatures and the Item Hunt)
- The 4 Pictogram descriptors (Half done)
- Sunken Temple of the Frog king (A small temple to keep things within scope of the project - Dungeon map )
- Act III - The drop; Explain instructions on how to get the items delivered and copy for options for results. reward or conquences.
Then I do... ART / HEX MAP umm.... spot illustrations.
I'll try make some screengrabs of rough concepts as well. but no promises.
